I recently completed the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course with Ian, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. His teaching style is clear, calm, and practical. he takes the time to ensure every student not only understands the material but feels confident on the water. Ian’s experience and patience made the course both professional and enjoyable. I walked away with skills I know I can rely on and a much deeper understanding of boat handling. Highly recommended for anyone serious about getting started in the yachting industry

I took the RYA Powerboat Assessment course. All the necessary information was sent to me in advance. But most importantly, while I was expecting just a simple skills check to confirm my qualification (as the name of the program suggests), I ended up getting so much more. In just three hours, my instructor Ian delivered a hands-on session that covered all possible aspects of powerboat handling — so well that I genuinely felt a significant upgrade in my skills, not just a formality to receive a certificate. On top of that, the whole experience wasn’t conducted in a stressful exam-like atmosphere, but rather in a friendly and supportive way, with Ian clearly eager to share his knowledge and experience. He even took some great photos and videos during the training! An amazing experience — highly recommended to anyone.

Had a great time doing my powerboat level 2 course with instructor Ian. Started the course with no boating experience and finished feeling very confident driving by myself! The corse was very informative but also really fun. Would highly recommend.

The course was great! We spent two days mostly on the water, so we had a lot of hands-on practice. Ian was very patient and fun to spend the two days with! I recommend this course to anyone who wants to be out on the water a lot and feel more confident in powerboating after the course!

We did a two day powerboat course. Great time. Ian is an excellent instructor, patient and very skilled. In two days we learned how to drive and handle the boat and all things around it . Became confident to drive on our own. Getting the RYA licence was easy after the course. To sum up the course exceeded our expectations. Thank you very much to the Yacht Sail Training school team and Ian in particular.

5 stars - highly recommend. One of the best locations to do in the the world, very nice boat and staff (especially Ian) were just the best, so supportive and stayed away unless he needed to step in which gave us all the best 2 days of my summer.

I did the RYA Powerboat Level 2 with Ian this year and could not have had a better time. Ian was an attentive, hands-on instructor with a clear passion for the ocean. It is rare to find someone with this quality that is so delicately balanced with incredible teaching skills. I’m looking forward to getting more certifications with Ian & the school in the future.

Did the RYA Day Skipper practical course here last October. Stefan was the able captain and instructor who managed to take four strangers and craft them into a working crew in a matter of hours. Learned a lot and enjoyed the process. Would recommend both YST and Stefan highly.
