Ecologists Without Borders Association

Ecologists Without Borders is a dedicated non-profit organization founded in 2009, committed to promoting environmental awareness and action in Slovenia and beyond. Our overarching mission is to activate and connect individuals, communities, policymakers, and businesses to minimize waste while enhancing overall well-being. Through innovative campaigns, comprehensive data analysis, and practical examples of best practices, we stimulate positive environmental changes.

Our Vision: A World Without Waste

We envision a cleaner Earth, free from waste. One of our hallmark initiatives, "Let's Clean Up Slovenia in a Day," emerged as the largest volunteer event ever in the nation, rallying over 289,000 participants—about 14% of the population—to remove 20,000 tons of waste. This effort positioned Slovenia as a leader in grassroots environmental activism and together with initiatives across various countries, we demonstrate the power of collective action.

Key Initiatives

Zero Waste Slovenia

Being part of the Zero Waste Europe network, we advocate for sustainable waste management practices. We have collaborated with 19 municipalities to create Zero Waste plans that now encompass 25% of the Slovenian population. Our work involves pioneering waste reduction projects and hosting campaigns aimed at achieving significant reductions in waste generation, with some efforts reducing waste by up to 60%.

Waste Reduction Projects

Our numerous waste prevention campaigns focus on recycling, reducing single-use items, and enhancing resource efficiency. Through partnerships with local hotels, restaurants, and event organizers, we've succeeded in implementing notable changes that halve waste per guest and further promote sustainable practices.
