Experience the essence of Istria with Clai Wines, located in the charming village of Krasica, near Buje. Our estate spans 10 hectares of lush vineyards and 5 hectares of olive groves, perfectly complemented by the invigorating sea breezes from the Adriatic coast, just 10 km away. Set at an altitude of 200 meters, our unique limestone flysch soil provides the ideal environment for cultivating our old vines, ensuring that each sip of wine reflects our rich terroir.

Vinification Process
At Clai Wines, we believe in the beauty of natural winemaking. Our grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation, using no added enzymes or selected yeasts. After a gentle aging process in wooden barrels, the wines are bottled without any micro or sterile filtering, preserving their authentic character.

I've been told that this is one of the best vineyards in Croatia. We were privileged to do a wine tasting with the head winemaker Tim. He is from South Africa and was able to communicate comfortably in English. He is extremely knowledgeable in his craft and is willing to share his knowledge. Clai wines made in a natural and organic manner. Many of the grapes they grow have been around since the Roman times. The wines lean towards dry. For palates that like sweeter wines, this vineyard may not be ideal. However, you will get a wonderful variations of orange wines. They also have a smooth grappa. Definitely recommend a visit!
