Villa Monte Kope

The house and garden is beautiful, but unfortunately it is not worth the money they charge. The quality of the furnitures, especially outside was poor. Pillows and furniture are worn, only 4 sunbeds and 2 parasols where one was broken. We had a lot of issues, and trying to address them with the hostess was difficult. I was kind of dismissed, having to convince that it was an issue. She also had to contact the owner each time. Giving her some authority would probably helped. The second day the pool started to drain. Which I tried to warn about, dismissed as this supposedly was how they cleaned the pool, but it was of course a broken valve. So they had to repair and refill the pool. Two days of an unusable pool, then of course the water was a lot colder. It was a lot of back and forth getting the pool in order, so it ended up with several days where the pool was more or less unavailable to us due to refilling and chemicals being added. Then we had a lot of bugs in the house; cockroaches and some big beetles. Again dismissed with words like «it’s nature». Well it is the kind of nature you don’t want inside. After sending some pictures they sent a cleaning crew and an exterminator. Since we were staying for two weeks we wanted to have the house cleaned one week in. Very little cleaning was done, not floors or kitchen, and no change of bed sheets since the cleaning lady thought it was not necessary. Again I had to address this to get a second cleaning, which was better but far from the standard I would expect. On the positive side we didn’t have to pay for the cleaning because of all the issues. On the third last day the AC stopped cooling, and the house became a bit hot and humid. The attention to details are just not there. You only get one set of towels, no bathing towels, the kitchen accessories are scarce and in many cases in a bad state. A toilet seat that didn’t fit and not properly mounted. Drawers in the freezers were broken and almost impossible to use. In general I would say that the cleaning and maintenance is not the best. A table to eat inside would have been nice, as we had some evenings with heavy rain that made it impossible to eat outside. To the positives. The outside area is very nice, with a good place to barbecue and eat. The pool is of a decent size at least for 5 people. The activity room is a good touch, where we played pool in the evenings. But all in all I am disappointed with the stay in this house. For this price point you expect that attention to details are in place, the house well maintained, and that you are heard when raising issues.
