Borojević’s Throne – A Unique WWI Memorial Located near Cerje on the Karst Plateau, Borojević’s Throne is a stone seat-shaped monument linked to Field Marshal Svetozar Borojević von Bojna, who commanded Austro-Hungarian troops during the Isonzo Front in World War I. Originally built by soldiers of the 43rd Infantry Regiment, it served both as a tribute to military leadership and as a directional marker. The monument is part of a larger WWI heritage area, with nearby trenches, bunkers, and Pečinka Cave – used as a shelter and field hospital during the war. The area offers beautiful views of the Adriatic, the Julian Alps, and the Vipava Valley. It’s close to the Cerje Memorial Tower, which also tells the story of Slovenia’s military past. Overall, it's a fascinating place to visit for anyone interested in history, nature, and panoramic hiking trails.

Un posto molto interessante che ricorda i soldati Austro-ungheresi caduti durante la prima guerra mondiale. Qui è presente anche un masso scavato che fungeva da sedia e dove il generale austriaco era solito sedersi per osservare i movimenti delle truppe italiane. Molto suggestivo anche il monumento contornato da diversi calibri di granate.
