Terra Meera is a newly established center located in an abandoned valley in Croatia, dedicated to regeneration and human potential. The initiative aims to revitalize local and regenerative agriculture through a community-driven project focused on planting a biodiverse and native fruit forest. By doing so, Terra Meera seeks to enhance the local economy, provide food sources, and create educational opportunities for both local and international communities.
The project addresses the urgent need for ecological stewardship in the Bribir region, which has suffered the repercussions of a civil war and subsequent neglect. Once a hub of small-scale farming, the area now faces significant challenges, including reliance on imported food and the harmful effects of mass tourism. With rising global issues such as climate change and soil degradation, it has become imperative to focus on local resilience and sustainable agricultural practices.
Terra Meera believes in the power of trees as a solution to combat these challenges. Agroforestry promotes the health of the soil through the planting and nurturing of indigenous trees, which helps to diversify crops and ensure ecological balance. This approach counters the negative impacts of mono-crop production while restoring and protecting the land's natural resources.
To kick off the regeneration journey, we plan to plant nearly 300 indigenous fruit trees as the first step in creating a vibrant fruit forest. We collaborate with local experts and workers who possess traditional knowledge and experience in land stewardship. Our international partnership with Gone West, a renowned tree-planting organization that has planted over four million trees globally, aligns with our mission to ensure sustainable practices in our endeavors.
Terra Meera is now a part of the Gone West Plant & Protect initiative, which establishes a set of criteria for sustainable tree planting and ecosystem restoration. This program aims to:
Goals
---
Mitigate the effects of climate change
Increase land covered by native trees
Improve water quality and stabilize hydrologic cycles
Protect woodland biodiversity
Create sustainable job opportunities
Foster a thriving ecosystem for future generations
We invite you to become a part of our growing community dedicated to fostering a greener and healthier planet. Your support not only helps the environment but also opens up diverse opportunities for engagement with Terra Meera. We offer various rewards for your contributions, enabling you to connect with our vision and mission.
