Ena najvecjih cerkva v Sloveniji je od zunaj izjemno mogocna in zanimiva. V casu mojega obiska je bila zal zaprta, tako da si notranjosti nisem mogla ogledati. Vendar pa je ze zaradi zunanjosti vredna ogleda.

One of the biggest churches in Slovenia. It is also called "Slovenian Lourdes" after the famous pilgrimage town in France. The building of the church started in 1906 and it was finished in 1914. The church was blessed on the 2nd of July 1914 - on the same day when the bodies of the killed Austrian-Hungarian crown prince Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were being transported by train from Sarajevo through Brestanica to Vienna. Only weaks later the WWI started. In 1929 the church became a basilica. One of the main architects of the building was Hans Pascher from Graz and the interior paintings are the work of Oswaldo Bierti and Peter Markovič. The church is worth to visit. It is really large and it stands out in a small town of Brestanica. The interior is also very nice, with a nice design and a lot of beautiful paintings on the wall.
