I spent three unforgettable weeks at Hostel Dalmatia this May/June– and it truly felt like a home away from home. 😍 The hostel is located in the small, peaceful town of Marušići, just under an hour by bus from Split (buses run several times a day and cost around 6 euros). It’s just a short walk downhill to an amazing beach with crystal clear water – the walk back is a bit of a climb, but it keeps you fit! 😄 What makes this place so special is the unique and social atmosphere. 🥰 The hostel is cozy, artistic, super clean, and beautifully decorated with lots of creative touches. There’s a large terrace with stunning views of the sea and mountains – where everyone gathers to enjoy dinner together in the evening, or just hang out with a drink during the day. Every evening, someone (guests, volunteers or the hosts) prepares a delicious shared dinner in the communal kitchen, and it’s a wonderful way to connect. There’s a strong sense of community, and it’s incredibly easy to meet new people – whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or a family. The rooms are clean and comfy, with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and partly with a balcony. Even the 8-bed dorm is perfectly set up: spacious, cozy, and quiet. Dean and Steffi, the lovely hostel owners, are amazing hosts – warm, helpful, and truly dedicated to making sure everyone feels welcome. 🩷 Steffi in particular radiates calm, positivity and kindness – and together with Dean they create an environment that feels both relaxed and full of life. There are lots of thoughtful extras available to guests, including snorkeling gear, board games, playing cards, and a small book exchange. One of the most magical touches: every guest can paint a ceramic tile, which is then added to the hostel’s walls – now completely covered with beautiful and funny artworks from past guests and volunteers. It’s such a lovely, personal tradition that makes you feel part of something bigger. 🎨💙 Although Marušići itself is small and quiet, it’s never boring – because the hostel is so vibrant and social. Dean and Steffi also organize weekly trips, like a visit to the local market on Tuesdays followed by swimming and a picnic at a nearby river. Sometimes they even take guests along on short outings to nearby places. ☺️ 💡 Things to know: This is a very social hostel, perfect if you enjoy community vibes. 😃 The walk back from the beach is steep – but totally worth it! 🏖️👌 Not much going on in town itself – the magic is in the hostel. ✨ I was there as a volunteer, but I would 100% recommend it to anyone: 🌞 Backpackers 🌞 Solo travelers 🌞 Couples 🌞 Families with kids 🌞 Digital nomads (the Wi-Fi is excellent!) 🌞 Beach lovers ... & anyone looking for connection and good vibes!! 🤗 A hidden gem on the Dalmatian coast – I’ll definitely be back! 💫 Thanks to Dean and Steffi for an unforgettable experience! 🩷

Absolutely loved the bar at Hostel Dalmatia! 🍹✨ I’ve stopped by a few times during my trip and every single visit was amazing. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming — they go out of their way to make everyone feel at home and always have great tips and fun activities going on. 😄 The atmosphere is super chill, with a unique vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. Great music, great people, and that stunning view… just wow! 🌅 I’ve made some unforgettable memories here and met some awesome travelers from all over. Highly recommend stopping by even if you’re not staying at the hostel! 💛🔥

Eine 10/10 Hostelerfahrung! Das Meer ist in nur fünf Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Zimmer und Badezimmer sind super sauber und der Gastgeber war extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich wäre sehr gerne länger geblieben!

It was really the best hostel I ever stayed!!! It has very great relaxing vibe, you feel like at friend's house. The owners and the volonteers are very kind, careful and created the best friendly atmosphere for each guest! The dinners were always excellent, we gathered by one big table like one family. The owners are doing their best-hostel is very clean, they orginizing free yoga classes each Sunday and trip to the local market throught the mountains and it all ends with picnic on a river Cetina. Hostel situated in a really wonderful place with mountains and sea view. You could sit on the terrace and relax with that view on million! Also you could sleep on the roof and watch the sky with lot of stars. I recommend everyone to visit this magical place!!! I will back here for sure not one time!!!

Wonderful hostel located in a beautiful area! The owners Dean and Steffi are lovely people, very kind, helpful, and welcoming. The hostel is super clean and has everything you need. Amazing views and a 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach. The hostel has a very fun and welcoming atmosphere and I would 100% recommend staying here !!

Our stay at the hostel was absolutely fantastic, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Steffi and Dean and their team of volunteers were truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel incredibly welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The hostel itself is lovely - clean, well-maintained, and with a really friendly atmosphere. It's clear that Steffi and Dean put a lot of care into every detail. They were always on hand to offer helpful local tips, from the best beaches to clever hitchhiking spots, and their recommendations always hit the mark. Their warmth and genuine hospitality made a huge difference to our trip. Make sure to check out their bar and Yoga studio too! Super schönes Hostel. Wahnsinnig freundliche Besitzer, die sich fantastisch um die Gäste kümmern. Die Aussicht von der Terrasse auf das Meer ist sensationell. Das Essen, auf Anfrage zubereitet, ein Traum. Mir gehen die Superlative aus, von daher fasse ich zusammen. Absolut empfehlenswert, für Leute, die ein Hostel in der Gegend suchen.

First time in a hostel, and it was great. The atmosphere is excellent, Dean and Steffi are awesome—friendly and communicative—and the volunteers are great as well. I really enjoyed staying here and also got to practice my English with the crew. The surroundings are peaceful, with a beautiful view. The beach is great (less than a 10-minute walk, even at a slow pace), and the path to the beach is gradually being improved. I hope to come back again.
