I had such a great time at this hostel. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to make me feel at home, even providing me with a list of fantastic local food spots. The breakfast was a definite highlight—it was the best I've had at any hostel, with a great variety and fresh options. The atmosphere was great, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Best hostel we’ve ever stayed in!! Staff were super friendly and caring, they were always happy to help us with recommendations in Split and showed great interest as to what we were getting up to each day. It felt really personal and we had a lot of fun chatting to them both. The rooms were spacious, with our own locker, socket and comfy bed. The whole hostel was always super clean. A lovely breakfast spread was laid out every morning with lots of variety too! Thank you so much for our stay🥰

We highly recommend this hostel, especially for motorcycle travelers like us! The staff was incredibly friendly and available all night. They treated us to local wine and even prepared free food to help us experience flavors from all parts of Croatia. Cleanliness, service, location, parking, and air conditioning – everything was a solid 10/10. Greetings from two bikers!

I booked this hostel well in advance, and initially had a positive impression. I had read many positive reviews. I contacted the host to ask about a late arrival (my flight landed after 11pm), and she kindly responded with directions and reassured me that a late check-in would be fine.||||However, closer to my arrival date, the host messaged to remind me that the hostel has an age limit of 18–45. I’m nearly 60 and hadn’t noticed this when booking—it was in the fine print. I had, as most people do, clicked the box agreeing to terms without realizing this was part of them. I immediately replied through the booking platform to explain the situation and asked if she could cancel. She said she couldn’t, and that I had to do it myself—but it was a non-refundable booking, so there was no option.||||In our message exchange, she remarked that “people my age complain too much” and “confuse hostels with hotels.” That may be true for some, but I’ve walked five Camino de Santiagos and stayed in hostels all over Europe and the U.S. I understand the spirit of hostels very well. Painting all older travelers with the same brush felt unfair.||||She said I could stay after all—but by then I’d already rebooked at another hostel. (Which turned out to be lovely, thank you Design Hostel One)||||While the host was responsive and the property may suit younger travelers, I’d advise others to read carefully for the age restriction. This hostel enforces it selectively, and the policy is not highlighted clearly at booking. I would not recommend this place for travelers over 45, even if you’re experienced and respectful of house rules.

Gut gelegen, ca. 10 Minuten Fußweg vom Hafen und dem Bahnhof. Das Hostel richtet sich gezielt an jüngeres Klientel. Es gibt mehrere, verschiedene Schlafräume und je einen gemeinsamen Raum mit Duschen, Toiletten und Waschmöglichkeiten. In den Schlafräumen sind klassische Stockbetten ohne Vorhänge. Die Räume sind klimatisiert. Das Frühstück wird morgens frisch zubereitet und muss sich vor keinem Hotel-Frühstück verstecken.

I ended up in AI hostel after my hotel refused to check me in after midnight. Anja not only woke up in the middle of the night to check me in and show me around, she was also there at 8am with a smile on her face to prepare one of the best breakfasts I’ve had throughout my trip; even better than some high end hotels. The rooms and bathrooms are nice and clean. AC keeps the rooms fresh and guests seem to align to Anja’s frequency of kindness and respect, trying to keep the noise down at night. I would strongly recommend AI hostel
