First part the contract and fees:
The first part of the rental was strange, the lady explained everything and we were surprised about extra fees for the damages coverage, it’s the first time we heard that the full insurance do not include the external part of the car. We paid 80 euros for extra and we did not take the ferry extra charge too. The final invoice was more expensive than the online quote.
Second part you pick up the keys:
The representative who provided the car at the pick for the general condition check in was unhelpful and unprofessional. We were informed that our car would be available at 5:00pm, but it did not arrive until 5:45pm. The representative explained that the delay was due to the car being cleaned at a washing station not located near the airport. However, upon inspection, the car was found to be unclean, and the representative was upset when this was pointed out, stating that it was not their responsibility to clean the car.
Additionally, the car finally arrived at 6:00pm, causing us to lose an hour from our schedule and miss an important appointment with friends. The car was also damaged, with a broken front bumper, which the representative dismissed as normal and not a concern.
This experience was not reflecting the professionalism of Sixt and obviously I regretted to rent my car at Sixt and not Avis Rent car just opposite to the street.
To summarize one hour left, one bad car and one invoice too high. Just read all comments and the same scenario is described, don’t reply you take care of our comment …Never again !

As a loyal Sixt customer with around 20 rentals per year, I have always appreciated the quality of service — until this experience in Dubrovnik, which was far below expectations.
First, the vehicle I had booked was not available. I was offered an alternative, but it was dirty (see photo of the seat).
Second, I was charged unjustified additional fees (for a ferry, border crossing, etc.) with no explanation whatsoever.
Third, I was charged a “late pickup” fee, even though I arrived at the counter at 9:45 PM and the agent was still there — he refused to consider my explanation and was absolutely inflexible.
Finally, the staff member who handed over the keys was extremely rude, unhelpful, and gave no information at all about the vehicle.
This is by far the worst experience I’ve had with Sixt anywhere in the world. I hope Sixt will review their customer service standards at this location.

After being scammed by Green Motion upon our arrival and suddenly finding ourselves without a car for our 11-day holiday, you can imagine our relief when, after trying several companies, Sixt came through for us. Not only did they accept a last-minute rental, but the price was also more than fair (570€ for 11 days).
The vehicle was brand new (only 2,000 km), fully equipped, and in perfect condition. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional – which, to be honest, is rare to find in Croatia.
The return process took less than two minutes. No shady tactics, no attempts to charge us for imaginary scratches or hidden damage – something many low-cost rental agencies are infamous for.
Thank you again, Sixt, for saving our trip. Absolutely recommended

Nous avons loué une voiture à mon nom mais mon conjoint en conducteur principal.
Arrivé sur place, nous avons dû payer une assurance obligatoire de 295€ car mon conjoint avait une « débit card » et non une « crédit card ». D’après eux, cela poserait problème pour l’empreinte bancaire. Une fois cette assurance payée, cela n’a posé aucun problème pour faire l’empreinte bancaire de 500€…
Je met tout de fois une étoile supplémentaire pour le surclassement du véhicule
