The good: The hotel is at the end of an impasse on the lapad peninsula, the hotel cascades down onto the water with direct sea access from the rocky shore. The balconies have magical sea views. The deluxe room was spacious. I did not use the pools, but was pleasantly surprised to read the indoor pool was open until 10pm. The bad: 1. The air conditioning does not work properly, barely any air was coming out of my unit, the temperature could not be controlled, you could only set it to a maximum of + or - 3 degrees with 3 fan settings. It was too hot, I could not sleep properly, I called reception and they offered a fan. It is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel not to have proper climate control that can be inviduall controlled to the desired temprature in the room. Here, it is evident that guests in 3 star hotels or much more affordable airbnb's had superior climate control than I did in this "5 star hotel". 2. The food was below mediocre. It was equivalent to a hospital cafeteria. Whatever you ordered arrived in 1 minute, only letting you think everything was prepared in huge batches in advance. 3. They did not replenish anything during my 3 night stay, not the water, not the tea, not even the cups. There was a note in the minibar asking guests to call housekeeping in case anything needed to be replenished. I called on my last day to ask for water and was asked to call room service, who explained rooms were only replenished in the morning and I had a DND sign it would not be replenished. I was then told they could only give me 1 bottle of water or would have to charge me. 4. The soundproofing was good, however not sufficient. I asked for a quiet room and was placed next to a room with a family. The kids were running in the room from 7 am, kicking things around which woke me up everyday. 5. As other reviews mentioned, the staff has collectively mastered the art of "not caring" and showing it. Their attitude is as bland as the decor of the hotel, which is in total contrast with my experience at every other property I stayed at during my holiday in Croatia. All these points were mentioned at checkout and not a single sorry was given. Overall, this is a poorly managed and outdated property which no longer deserves its 5 star rating. Finally, I would seriously question the authenticity of the majority of the 5 star reviews here, most of them clearly generated by AI, only a couple words long and posted from accounts with very few reviews.

Based on your specific feedback, here is a detailed and balanced review of the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace. Hotel Name: Hotel Dubrovnik Palace Overall Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) My recent stay at Hotel Dubrovnik Palace was a bit of a contradiction. While the location and the staff are truly exceptional, several aspects, particularly for a five-star hotel, were a letdown. Rooms: ★★★☆☆ The rooms, in my opinion, are not what I would classify as a typical five-star standard. They are more in line with a good four-star hotel. While clean and comfortable, they lack the luxurious feel and amenities that one expects at this price point. However, I must give credit where it's due: the view from the room was nothing short of spectacular. Waking up to the beautiful seascape and watching the sun set over the islands was a truly unforgettable experience, and for that alone, it's worth it. Food: ★★★☆☆ The food was just okay. As a celiac, I found the options to be quite limited, though I could find enough to eat. The breakfast was decent, but I've had better and more varied selections at other three- and four-star hotels. Considering the hotel's five-star status, I expected a more diverse and high-quality culinary experience. Staff: ★★★★★ The staff deserve a special mention. They were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Their service was genuinely five-star, and they went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I give them a perfect score for their professionalism and warmth. Pool & Spa: ★★★★☆ The swimming pool area is a definite plus, with a nice pool bar that creates a relaxing atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the indoor pool and spa, which were excellent and provided a serene escape. Accessibility Concerns: This was a major issue for me and a significant disappointment for a hotel of this caliber. The outdoor areas, especially around the pool and leading to the sea, have slippery stone paths and broken pebbles. It made me very concerned for my own safety and left me feeling like it wasn't a safe environment. I had hoped to bring my mother here on a future trip, but the lack of accessibility for people with mobility challenges to the beach and main pool areas makes that impossible. I was under the impression that five-star hotels should be more accommodating and diverse in their offerings. Entertainment & Value: The live music was a nice touch in the evenings, adding a pleasant backdrop to the stunning views. On a general note about the location, while the food outside is better, be prepared—Dubrovnik is a very expensive city for dining. Overall Impression: In summary, while the breathtaking views and outstanding staff make for a pleasant stay, the hotel falls short of its five-star rating in key areas like room quality, dining, and, most importantly, accessibility. It's a safe and beautiful place to stay, but the price tag feels disproportionate to the overall quality of the experience.

We’ve had the most amazing trip! We’re still here for another few nights but honestly the staff are incredible. I have coeliacs disease and they’ve gone out of their way to ensure I don’t miss out - even on the dinner or breakfast buffet. The view is also incredible. Beds are comfortable and the balcony with a view is the cherry on the cake!

Hotel Palace Dubrovnik ima izniman potencijal, no bez ozbiljnog ulaganja u sadržaj, standarde usluge i edukaciju osoblja, teško će opravdati svoj status i očekivanja gostiju.

The location is absolutely fantastic, with a lovely beach and pool area — truly postcard-perfect. Unfortunately, the charm ends there. The staff seem to have mastered the art of polite indifference, offering service that’s as cold as the juice at breakfast (which, by the way, isn’t worth waking up for). The attitude towards guests varies wildly — perhaps there’s a secret VIP list we weren’t on? Speaking of VIPs, there’s a mysterious “VIP area” by the pool, which no one bothered to explain. Apparently, beach chairs now require reservations — how delightfully inconvenient. As for dining, unless you’re eager to pay fine-dining prices for snack-bar quality, you’d best head elsewhere. The hotel is clinging to its 4-star rating by the skin of its outdated curtains. A serious renovation is long overdue if it wishes to remain in that category. Luckily, there’s a convenient bus to the old town — a welcome escape from the service standards here. In short: stellar location, forgettable experience. If you value service as much as scenery, you might want to look elsewhere. Reception service was truly unforgettable — not in a good way. The front desk staff had all the warmth and charm of an ice block. Friendly smiles must be optional here, and basic courtesy seems to be on vacation, too.

Great location, nice pool and beach area but we found the hotel staff to be a bit aloof and unhelpful. Hotel needs an update soon to stay 4 star. Weird VIP area at the pool that was not explained. Crazy expensive drinks and food, would not recommend eating here aside from breakfast which was great. The bus picks up and goes straight into old town which is very convenient

Absolutely loved our stay at Dubrovnik Palace Hotel! The views were breathtaking, the service was top-notch, and the whole experience felt luxurious from start to finish. They even surprised me with a birthday cake in the room — such a thoughtful touch that made my day extra special. Highly recommended!

I’m 47 and have never left a bad review for a hotel so hopefully not classified as a ‘Karen’. The hotel is ok - no disaster stories, however… i don’t understand why a couple of recent 5 star reviews talk about this hotel being in the old town or having a nightclub. Neither is true so perhaps the paid advertising didn’t work out? The hotel does indeed have a baby pool an indoor pool and two outdoor pools however one of the outdoor pools is only available to VIP guests. The main pool is in need of some serious tlc - grubby and missing tiles. Will attached pics. The private ‘beach’ is a series of tiled platforms with very slimy steps into the sea. Not suitable for young kids or people with mobility problems. The bedroom was large with ample storage and very clean! The worst thing about this place however is the price and quality of the food and drink. A mocktail is €12.50 😳. The evening buffet doesn’t come close to other hotels we’ve stayed at either. Most of the staff are pleasant enough but the self proclaimed head bar man at the pool bar objected to my husband asking to not put chocolate sauce in his iced coffee. Apparently it’s his recipe… In summary, we loved Dubrovnik and will return but absolutely not to this hotel.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel and had a truly exceptional experience. Having previously visited the property eight years ago, we were delighted to return and found it just as impressive as we remembered. The hotel is in a great location just outside the busy city centre. It is away from the crowds with lovely views and stunning sunsets. The facilities, including the pool, gym, and spa, are all of a very high standard, and the dining options are excellent. The waiter at the Maslina Tavern was just brilliant and had us laughing all evening, and the food was fantastic and very well presented. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the outstanding quality of the staff. Every team member we interacted with—from the front desk and housekeeping to the breakfast team, restaurant staff, and management—was consistently friendly, helpful and professional. The staff set the tone in a hotel, and in the Dubrovnik Palace they create a warm, down to earth atmosphere where guests feel happy and comfortable. We encountered an issue during our stay, which the manager Hrvoje addressed personally and treated with exceptional care and attention. His dedication and willingness to go above and beyond truly enhanced our experience. The Prime Minister was attending the hotel during our check-out day—which understandably brought heightened security and increased activity, however guests were still attended to without disruption. Afterward, we moved on to another 5-star property in Dubrovnik, but it simply did not compare to the experience we had at Dubrovnik Palace. We look forward to returning again in the future.

If “five stars” had a platinum level, Palace Hotel Dubrovnik would have it. From the moment we arrived (late and hungry), the staff swooped in, bags vanished into our rooms, and food magically appeared—even after 10pm! Special shout-out to the hilarious and ever-smiling maître d’ Marijana, who greeted us by name and brought warmth and humour to every mealtime. HR deserves a serious pat on the back for hiring her—she’s a real asset to the hotel.|Breakfasts were fresh and abundant—you could have lived on pastries alone, but the eggs and fruit were so good we almost considered becoming morning people. Half-board is a savvy choice: we explored all day, then returned to feasts featuring everything from calamari to swordfish. The private beach and pools were perfect for relaxing, or, if you’re a bit more adventurous, you can try scuba diving—my children had the best time exploring the Adriatic seabed and making friends with the fishes.|The location is ideal, with taxis on tap and a bus stop to the Old Town right outside. Whether you need suncream or souvenirs, this place has a shop for it. Even better, the Croatian prime minister was staying at the hotel at the same time as us—so you know it’s a popular spot for VIPs!|All in all, we left full, relaxed, a shade browner, and with a few new family in-jokes thanks to the staff’s sense of humour and genuine kindness. Highly recommended!
